On-Demand Transit Seat Unavailable Explained

We understand that time is precious, and getting to your destination should be convenient and efficient. That's why we've integrated on-demand services with our traditional fixed route public transit system. With new systems comes new questions. We've decided to use our next few blogs to explain our system a little more.

Here's how it works:

Booking your ride: Just like with popular ride-sharing services, you can book your ride through our user-friendly app, “ORT on-Demand”. Specify your pickup location and destination within our service zones, and our system will find the best available route for you.

45-Minute Ride Limit

We value your time, and we've implemented a strict 45-minute total ride duration per passenger. This ensures that your commute remains convenient and doesn't turn into an unexpected marathon. If a subsequent booking would extend the total ride time beyond 45 minutes for the initial passenger, the system will automatically decline the request with a “Seat Unavailable” message.

a graphic showing multiple riders requesting a ride. One causes a 50 trip and another a 30 minute trip. The trip that exceeds the 45 minute trip will be declined.
If a new ride is going to cause a greater than 45 minute trip for "rider 1", then our system will decline your ride causing a "seat unavailable" notification.

Seamless and Convenient

Enjoy the convenience of on-demand transit without the worry of extended travel times. Our goal is to make your commute as smooth and stress-free as possible, giving you the freedom to focus on what matters to you.

Smart Routing

Behind the scenes, our system employs smart routing algorithms to minimize delays and provide the most efficient travel paths. This ensures that you reach your destination in a timely manner, making the most of your valuable time.

Experience the future of public transit with our on-demand system—where convenience meets efficiency.
