Position: Technician
As a Technician at ORT, you will play a crucial role in keeping our fleet of vehicles in optimal working condition. You’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing not only ORT vehicles but also other vehicles under ORT contracts. This position is essential to ensure that our operations run smoothly and that safety standards are rigorously upheld.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Technician and Repair: Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on vehicles according to ORT and manufacturer procedures. This includes major wiring work, air conditioning repairs, and more.
Safety Compliance: Ensure all safety procedures are followed and report any safety concerns to the Director of Maintenance. Your watchfulness is key to maintaining a safe working environment.
Shop and Tool Management: Keep the maintenance shop and bus yard clean and organized. Maintain tools and equipment in excellent condition, reporting any issues to the Director of Maintenance.
Parts Requisitioning: Secure necessary parts for repairs in line with ORT policies and procedures, ensuring timely completion of all tasks.
What We’re Looking For
Education and Experience: A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. We value decision-making skills and the ability to operate cleaning and technician equipment.
Physical and Environmental Conditions: The role involves various physical activities, including lifting (up to 35 lbs regularly), standing, bending, climbing in and out of vehicles, and working in noisy outdoor environments with exposure to diesel fumes and chemical cleaning agents.
Driver’s License: Applicants must obtain the proper class of Commercial Driver’s License within two months of employment to operate all equipment currently in use.
